Have you ever been at the gym and seen those guys in the corner of the gym that are built like tanks and thought –
“How do they get like that? Is it drugs or are they a Genetic Freak?”
I have never been a massive guy. I am fit, but I have always found it hard to put size on. It didn’t seem to matter how much I trained I could never get any muscle gains.

Sound familiar?
I was in the gym doing my thing, one not so special day and one of “those guys” was training in the corner. I decided to find out what his secret was. I sat on the bench next to him and got talking. What he shared with me has made such a difference in my physique that I felt I had to share it with others….
I asked him.
What is the best advice you could give someone wanting to become a bodybuilder?
I expected him to tell me about some special exercise that was the “magic pill” but to my surprise he explained to me that finding out what body type you are and set your training and diet for that body type is the key.
Specifically- Eat for your body type. You see, each body type processes food differently. There is no set diet or training that will work for everyone. As simple as this statement is- It had never occurred to me. I had always been trying “the next big thing to get massive” that you see in the muscle mags and had never gotten any results. I had always figure that it was my fault.
Have you ever noticed how marathon runners all have the same shape? Same principle. Obviously not everyone is going to end up being built like Jay Cutler. We all have our genetic limitations but he explained that everyone can build muscle as long as they use the right process.
I started searching the net for information. Sifting through the miriad of gimmicks and products available I stumbled onto Kyle Leon’s Muscle Maximizer. I realized that what this guy was saying was really similar to what my body building buddy was saying.
The key to your success….
Making sure you have the right diet teamed with the right training and the right amount of repair time (or sleep). You don’t have to spend every waking hour in the gym. More importantly if you do – you will end up going backwards and lose muscle and cause an injury. Every time you lift a weight you cause micro tears in the muscle fibre. To repair those micro tears the body creates new muscle tissue. It does this for two reasons. 1. To repair the damage 2. To make the muscle stronger so it won’t tear the next time you lift something that heavy. If you are training non-stop you are causing micro tears- non-stop. But you are not allowing your body to recover and repair itself.
How does it recover? Through sleep and nutrition. When you go to sleep, the body repairs itself. If you are not getting enough repair time your muscle won’t get bigger. Pretty Simple.
Would you like fries with that?
The quality of the cells in your body are based on the quality of your nutrition. Put simple if you eat crap food your body will make crap muscles. I am sure you already have seen this in your own body. Start having one to many pizzas and you skin starts to break out or your stomach starts to look a bit flabby. You look tired and in general feel crap. It’s your body’s way of telling you it wants the right fuel. You wouldn’t put diesel in your car if it took unleaded gas would you? So why would you do that with your body?
Bodybuilding is a sport like no other. It is without doubt one of the most misunderstood sports out there. These athletes are continually the butt of jokes and not given the credit they so desperately deserve. The training and dieting they go through for one day is hard and lonely. To find ways to make that easier on you and to get the best out of your body is worth doing. It can be the difference between competing and not competing.
Having the right structure is the key to success. Having someone in your corner guiding you the right way and giving you the secret tips for your body to be the best body builder you can be.
