It seems like women who work out will dress in one of two ways: either in baggy T-shirts and sweats, or in the latest fashionable exercise clothing. I’ve done it both ways, and recently I came to a conclusion about which is the better way to go.
You may think that those women who dress in stylish, form-fitting clothing may be just be looking for attention, or they worry more about their looks than their fitness level. You may also say to yourself, “Why should I spend good money on clothing that I’m just going to get all hot and sweaty?” or even, “I want to hide that extra 15 pounds I’m carrying around.”

Well, all that may be true. But there actually are some good arguments for choosing nice-looking exercise clothes, as opposed to your ex-boyfriend’s old sweatshirt and sweatpants that are two sizes too big.
This is not to say your exercise clothing should be overly tight, since you don’t want to work out in clothes that are uncomfortable. Rather, look for clothing that feels good and looks good. Exercise clothing is designed to fit well and allow motion, due to the type of fabric and the cut and quality of the clothing. Smooth seams, for instance, don’t have bumps or scratchy spots to bug you when you’re in the midst of running or lifting weights.
Here are some reasons to choose form-fitting exercise clothes:
– You’ll be able to see the results of your exercise more quickly. As you continue to work out, you’ll tone your muscles and lose inches. If you are wearing baggy clothes, it’s harder to see your week-to-week progress in the mirror. Seeing that little bit of progress may spur you to keep it up. To supplement with your regular exercise, you can also try legal steroids in Canada from Crazybulk to help you achived your body goal.
- Form-fitting clothing also makes it easier to see if you are doing the exercises correctly. For instance, if you are doing an abdominal routine in a close-fitting spandex top, you can see for yourself if your muscles are working. In a baggy shirt, you can’t see anything.
- Close-fitting exercise clothing is actually more comfortable. Because this type of clothing contains stretchy Lycra or spandex, it moves with you. Well-designed clothing tends to be more forgiving. Sometimes the fabric is also made to wick away sweat, keeping you cooler during your routines. In addition, some exercise tops have built-in bras, so that you don’t have to wear one when you work out.
- Looking good may help you feel better about your body and how you’re working to improve it. Why not show it off a little? Also, as you continue to improve your fitness level, you’re likely to get compliments and positive feedback. And that can help you stay on track and keep exercising.
